Red River Gorge Elopement by Kentucky Wedding Photographer Brandi Potter
As is the story of most of 2020, covid drastically changed Casey and Coles elopement plans. Originally we were supposed to drive around California and enjoy all of the scenery the state has to offer. When it became evident that wouldn’t happen until later on we decided on the Red River Gorge. If you’re not familiar with Kentucky or the Gorge it’s a beautiful place (probably the most beautiful place in the state) full of waterfalls and good hiking. It’s also a world famous climbing destination if you’re into the sport.
We went down one of my favorite trails. It’s an easy loop, especially if you’re dressed up, and has a natural bridge and waterfall at the end of it. It also has a really pretty forest area with large trees that seem out of place for Kentucky. It reminds me more of being amongst the trees in the Pacific North West than being more on the east coast. It’s not a secret that I dislike most of the trees in Kentucky, but I always make an exception to that rule for the trees at the Gorge. I can’t wait to see it when the leaves change.
